Antigua is located in the Central Highlands of Guatemala. It was the capital of Guatemala until an earthquake destroyed much of it in 1773. These days, Antigua is one of Guatemala’s most charming places. You’ll explore this city with your tour guide and experience some of its best attractions.
Your tour group will stroll around the Plaza Mayor, which is found near the center of Antigua. This is a good place to get a sense for the pace of life in Antigua and see some of the city’s colorful characters. Your guide will then take you to several churches – including San Francisco and La Merced – that will help you appreciate the religious and architectural history of Antigua.
This tour also includes visits to the small towns of Ciudad Viejo, San Antonio, Aguas Calientes, and San Felipe de Jesús. These towns are nearby and offer up additional opportunities to explore the lifestyles and culture surrounding Antigua.
