Lívingston is only accessible by boat, which gives it an exotic and secluded feel. Tour participants will enjoy a private boat ride to Lívingston, where they will engage in cultural activities and a musical tour.
The tour then continues up the Río Dulce, which connects Lake Izabal with the Caribbean Sea. Along the way you’ll make stops at Bird Island (Isla de los Pájaros) and Cayo Quemado. You will also stop at Agua Caliente. Set along the northern shores of Lake Izabal, Agua Caliente is a 40-foot (12-m) warm-water fall. The water forms a pool at the bottom of the falls, some of which is cooled by neighboring streams—it’s a great spot to take a dip in a tropical environment.
This tour also includes a visit to the San Felipe Castle (Castillo de San Felipe). The Spanish originally built this castle in the 17th century to protect their land and property from British pirates. It’s a fun place to wander around and see canons and enjoy stellar views of Lake Izabal.

El Castillo de San Felipe de Lara is a fortress along the northern shores of Lake Izabal in Guatemala. More commonly known as “El Castillo de San Felipe,” the castle was originally built by the Spanish in 1652 to ward off pirates.
