The mangrove canals at Monterrico host an assortment of wildlife, including birds, reptiles, and fish. During this tour you'll explore the canals with a local guide on a boat. As you make your way through the forested canals, you'll learn about the ecological diversity of this important area.

After touring the mangroves you'll visit the salinera, which is where salt is mined and dried. The salt is harvested from the sea and then dried in the sun. It must be moved three times a day to allow it to continue to dry.

This tour is only offered from July through November, the only time of year when salt can be harvested and dried.

The tour lasts around 1.5 hours.
