The Pacaya Volcano erupts fairly regularly, emitting ash and lava from its top. The activity varies from day to day, but tour participants have a good chance of seeing eruptions while on this tour. The tour is safe and led by professional local guides.

Travelers are picked up at their hotel and transported by mini-bus to the Pacaya Volcano National Park. The trails here are well maintained but steep—the trail up Pacaya is 2.3 miles long. As you ascend you’ll pass through forests, farmland, and old lava flows. You’ll walk along dirt trails and loose ash, so be sure to wear study shoes.

At the summit you’ll enjoy wonderful views of the volcano’s main vent, which may be spewing ash, rocks, or lava. Have your camera handy to capture the eruptions! Rest assured, you’ll be at a safe distance and out of harm’s way. During this hike you will also get great views of the surrounding area.

After descending the volcano you’ll be driven back to your hotel.
